In a report by Forbes, Bastrop was pinpointed as the landing spot for Musk’s X. While Austin was initially thought to be the likely destination for X, given its tech influence and ties to Tesla, Bastrop makes sense as a close alternative given Musk already has a footprint there.

Elon Musk’s empire in Bastrop is growing again as his social media company, X, is making its headquarters in the Central Texas town about 30 miles outside Austin. In July, the tech tycoon announced he was moving the headquarters for X — the company formerly known as Twitter he bought in 2022 for $44 billion — and SpaceX to Texas from California over frustration with that state’s laws.
