SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WOIO) - Ohio Governor Mike DeWine revisited Springfield, Ohio on Thursday. The city has been at the center of turmoil since the presidential debate on September 10. On Monday, DeWine sent Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers to the city to provide added security for district school buildings.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine wrote in a New York Times op-ed that he was saddened by lies spread about Haitian immigrants in Springfield spread by former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said on Monday there have been “at least 33” bomb threats in Springfield and he announced troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be dispatched to 18 school buildings for the foreseeable future.

The 77-year-old governor told reporters Monday that law enforcement has responded to at least 33 separate bomb threats made against Springfield government offices, schools and medical centers

I am saddened by how they and others continue to repeat claims that lack evidence and disparage the legal migrants living in Springfield,” DeWine wrote.

"It is disappointing to me that Springfield has become the epicenter of vitriol over America's immigration policy...," Mike DeWine wrote.
