Former President Donald Trump and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz coasted to victory in Tuesday's closely watched election. Statewide, both Republicans enjoyed hearty victories over their Democratic challengers.

It's too early to tell if voter turnout rates in California surpassed the 2020 election, but a Berkeley IGS Poll estimates it will break state records

Kent County Clerk Lisa Posthumous Lyons said the turnout in the county for the 2024 election was 68.8%, the lowest since the 2012 presidential election. The 2020 election had the highest turnout at 72.

Around 2 p.m. Tuesday the Secretary of State's Office reported that more than 340,000 votes had been cast in El Paso County. This passed the total number of votes cast in the county during the 2016 general election with five hours until the polls closed.
